Before work, you hit snooze. After work, you turn on the T.V. and relax. Humans are professional excuse makers, and often times, it seems impossible to motivate yourself to fit in a workout. But today, we will provide you with 5 ways to help ignite the fitness motivation fire within you!

1. Reward Yourself

It’s true that the first steps are the hardest. When you are first starting to workout, make sure to reward yourself for your hard work and dedication! Treat yourself to a smoothie, buy yourself the new running shoes you’ve been eyeing, or splurge on a nice dinner out. The prospect of a tangible reward just may be enough to get the job done!

2. Be Consistent

As humans, we love consistency. Find a routine that works for you and stick to it! If you tend to be a morning person, lay out your workout clothes the night before and be sure to hit the gym before heading to work. Night owls, you may find it more reasonable to bring your exercise clothes with you to work and fit in a workout after you leave the office. Find what works for you, and make it your routine!

3. Try Group Fitness

The presence of others may be just what you need to spark your fitness motivation fire! Consider taking a fitness class at your local gym. Kick boxing, yoga, pilates, and spin classes are generally offered at local fitness centers and studios. If you are having a hard time motivating yourself, classmates and an instructor may help to increase your motivation.

4. Try Something New

If running and yoga aren’t doing it for you, research more creative ways to workout! Consider martial arts, salsa dancing, or aerial silk classes. Working out doesn’t need to be boring; think of it as your new hobby! The most important thing for your health is that you are moving your body and making a positive impact on your life.

5. Have Fun and Believe in Yourself

Above all else, it is essential that you have fun and believe in yourself. Think of the reasons why you want to exercise: health, fitness, family, longevity, etc. And then think of how you will feel after a great workout: refreshed, healthy, and happy. Make these reasons your motivation, and your excuses should melt away!
